One of the reasons we LOVE being tucked away two miles into Pisgah National Forest is that the opportunities for stargazing are plenty. With very little light pollution, we have a beautiful night sky above the Inn on Mill Creek B&B. Every month brings noteworthy celestial events this year, including meteor showers, a total lunar eclipse, and planets aligning.

New Trails Coming to Old Fort, NC

Great news for lovers of the outdoors: Plans are underway to construct several miles of trails in our neighborhood of Pisgah National Forest in Old Fort, North Carolina, and to improve on existing trails! We are super excited about this news because it means there will be even more opportunities for our fellow Old Fort residents and our guests at the Inn on Mill Creek Bed & Breakfast to enjoy getting out in nature.

2020 Fall Color Report for the North Carolina Mountains, Week 5

Elevations above 3,000 are quickly slipping past peak color, but we have lovely bits of fall foliage remaining in our neighborhood of Pisgah National Forest at 2,300 feet in Old Fort, NC. The leaves on our vast number of oak trees are turning now, so look for oranges and reds to start dominating the landscape and read on for the scoop on where color can be found this last week of October.
