Wintertime is a great time to do birdwatching – it’s one of the activities you can do year-round here in Pisgah National Forest east of Asheville, North Carolina.
Enjoy photos from our recent snow day, taken January 17, 2022 and the following day. We got a total of 14 inches of snow, which made for a beautiful winter wonderland. It started Saturday night and snowed for almost 24 hours straight!
With more than a week to go before the official start of winter, Mother Nature decided a snow day was in order for the Western North Carolina mountains. More than 15 inches was recorded right here at the Inn on Mill Creek between December 9 and 10, 2018. Get ready for some pretty pictures of our winter wonderland!
Happy New Year! And yippee! Our first snow of the winter season arrived on January 6, 2017, blanketing Pisgah National Forest around Asheville, including our neck of the woods at the Inn on Mill Creek with several inches of beauty. Stillness. Peaceful. Calming. Quiet. A great way to kick off the new year.
Winter Storm Jonas visited us on January 22, 2016, blanketing the ground with snow and resulting in a pristine winter landscape for us to enjoy over the next couple of days (next weekend’s forecast…60 degrees!).
A lot of our guests and friends of the Inn who live in the northeastern U.S. and also in the midwest are no doubt ready for Spring. It’s understandable, what with Boston getting more than 100(!) inches of snow this 2015 winter season and other areas seeing plenty of the white stuff to last through the rest of winter.
