Are our guests enjoying the Quiet Season in the Asheville/Black Mountain area? We’re seeing a lot of smiles at breakfast, so we’re going to guess the answer is a big yes. Next Year’s Garden Planning Begins

As we celebrate the first day of Winter, we (meaning Brigette) also celebrate the fact that the first of our garden catalogs have arrived. Gold stars go to Bluestone Perennials in Ohio, and Witherspoon Roses in Durham, NC, for being early birds in the garden catalog distribution department! What better way to get through winter than to flip through a garden catalog, with it’s colorful plants and flowers splashed on every page?

Santa’s Coming Down the Chimney

Santa’s going to be coming down the chimney soon — at Chimney Rock Park, a beautiful state park just 30 minutes south of the Inn on Mill Creek. Before Santa makes his way down the chimneys at the houses of all the good boys and girls around the world, he’ll be doing a dry run by rappelling down the Chimney Rock, a 315-foot monolith.

Photos to Share

As we watch the snow melt, we’ve been going through our photos, comparing last year’s weather to this year… big difference! While waxing nostalgic about how last February, our crocuses had begun to bloom by the middle of the month compared to this February, when our White Garden is literally white — covered in a blanket of pristine white snow — we realized that it’s very easy to take pretty pictures here in the mountains of Western North Carolina; no matter what time of year it is, the scenery just makes you smile.
